Anticonvulsants, SV2A Inhibitors
Anticonvulsant, SV2A inhibitors are used to control partial onset, myoclonic or tonic-clonic seizures in patients with epilepsy. They may also be used to treat Tourette syndrome, anxiety disorders, and Alzheimer's disease. It functions by binding to the SV2A protein, inhibiting presynaptic calcium channels, which reduces neurotransmitter release. An example of an anticonvulsant SV2A inhibitor is Keppra (levetiracetam).
