Cytoprotectant Agents
Cytoprotectants are drugs used to increase the protection of cells against harmful agents. They are often used to loosen and thin mucus levels. Conditions treated with cytoprotectant agents include: cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, tuberculosis, emphysema, and other lung conditions. Commonly prescribed cytoprotectorant agents are Nac (acetylcysteine) and Acetadote (acetylcysteine).
