Factor Xa Inhibitors

Factors Xa inhibitors are a form of anticoagulant used to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis and acute coronary embolism. Factor Xa inhibitors may also be used to reduce the risk of stroke and embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. They function by inhibiting the activity of the clotting factor Xa, which is found in blood and clots. Commonly prescribed examples of Factor Xa inhibitors include Xarelto (rivaroxaban) and Eliquis (apixaban).
