A glucometer is a medical device used to measure the approximate concentration of glucose in the blood. It is a key tool for people with diabetes or hypoglycaemia for home blood glucose monitoring. The device pricks your finger to give tiny sample of blood to test. Most devices have similar features, although some have the ability to test on other areas of your body. Before choosing a glucometer, it is wise to speak with your insurance company, as come insurers only cover certain machines.
