Inhalation General Anesthetics
General anesthetics are drugs that render the patient unconscious and unresponsive to allow surgeons to operate on them. It is a reversible process. Anesthetics are given by inhalation, by an anesthesiologist, a specially trained doctor, who will closely monitor your vital signs (breathing, heart rate, temperature) during the surgery. Whilst under general anesthesia, a patient is unable to feel pain, and the patient may wake with some memory loss. Exactly how anesthetic medications work is still unknown.
