Ophthalmologicals for dry eye disease are medicines used to treat keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), also known as dry eye disease. This condition is characterized by patients either not producing enough tears, or producing poor quality tears that do not provide sufficient protection for the eye. Ophthalmologicals used to treat the condition include artificial tears to soothe the irritation or discomfort of dry eye disease, or drugs such as Restasis (cyclosporine), which increase tear production.
