Mydriatics and Cycloplegics
Mydriatics and cycloplegics are used to treat inflammatory eye conditions, such as iritis and cyclitis, and during eye examinations to allow visualization of the retina and structures of the eye. They work by relaxing the focusing muscles of the eye and dilating the pupils. A commonly prescribed mydriatic and cycloplegic is atropine sulfate.
