Oral Bisphosphonate Bone Calcium Regulators

Bisphosphonates are a drug class used to minimize loss of bone mass by slowing the digestion of bones by osteoclasts. They are used to treat patients with osteoporosis and similar conditions, and to reduce the risk of bone-fracture in post-menopausal women with osteoporosis. They may also be used to treat Paget's disease of the bone, primary hyperparathyroidism and bone metastasis. Commonly prescribed oral bisphosphonate bone calcium regulators include: Fosamax Plus-D, Fosamax and Boniva.
