Thiazide Diuretics
Thiazide diuretics are used to lower blood pressure and treat patients suffering from hypertension, edema, cirrhosis, and hypoglycemia. They are used to reduce the risk of death from stroke, heart attacks, and heart failure as a result of hypertension. They work by inhibiting the reabsorption of salt in the kidneys. Examples of commonly prescribed thiazide diuretics include Microzide (hydrochlorothiazide) and Diuril (chlorothiazide).
