Topical nasal decongestants are medicines that relieve nasal congestion by reducing swelling, inflammation and the formation of mucus. They are applied topically into the nasal passage and work by narrowing the blood vessels in the nose. Commonly used topical nasal decongestants include Bronkaid (ephedrine) and Afrin (oxymetazoline).
