Bacterial Vaginosis
Bacterial vaginosis is an imbalance of bacterias in the vagina, causing an excess of “bad” bacteria. Possible causes of bacterial vaginosis include having multiple sexual partners; having a new sexual partner; or douching.
While a mild condition that many women will not notice, common symptoms of bacterial vaginosis include vaginal discharge, odor, burning, and itching. Should these symptoms appear, it is important to see a physician to rule out other more serious conditions, such as a sexually transmitted disease.
Commonly prescribed drug classes used to treat bacterial vaginosis include antibiotics, anaerobicides, and certain antiinfectives.
