Connective Tissue Disorders
Connective tissue disorder is a broad term encompassing any condition or disease that affects the tissues connecting bones and other body parts, for example, fat, cartilage, and tendons. The root of disorders varies depending on the exact condition but may be caused by injury, infection or genetics.
Treatment of connective tissue disorders is dependant on the condition but may include medication, surgery, or injection of substances such as collagenase - an enzyme used to break up the bonds in collagen, the main structural protein in connective tissues. Among the drugs used to treat connective disorders are wound healing agents.
