Dementia

Dementia is a symptom in which people experience a loss of brain function, which adversely affects cognitive ability, memory, language skills, behavior, and judgment. There are many possible underlying causes of dementia, but Alzheimer’s disease is one of most common underlying conditions. Dementia is a degenerative condition with no cure. It is more common in older patients.

Treatment of dementia usually involves medication to minimize the symptoms, treatment of any of the underlying diseases or illnesses that may be at the root of the condition, and medication to slow the progression of the symptoms.

Drug classes commonly used to treat the symptoms of dementia include anti-Alzheimer products, cholinesterase inhibitors, and other anti-Alzheimer products.
