Diagnosis
Diagnosis is the process of determining which disease or condition is present in a patient. Physicians may make a diagnosis based on information obtained by talking to a patient, or through diagnostic tests, biopsies, and other procedures.
Certain drug classes are used specifically to make diagnoses, for example, radiopaque agents containing iodine to absorb x-rays, which provides a clearer image when an x-ray is taken. Other diagnostic medications include MRI agents, ultrasound agents, and other imaging agents.
