Eczema

Eczema, also called atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition that causes dry and itchy rashes on the skin. It affects three out of ten children in the United States and more than 30 million people in total across the country. Symptoms include blisters, dry skin and discoloration, redness and inflammation of the skin.

Treatments come in a variety of forms, including topical creams and ointments, capsules and tablets. Over-the-counter solutions are available, as are prescription medications. The most commonly prescribed medication for eczema are corticosteroids, particularly topical preparations.  Other drug classes commonly used to treat eczema include CNI immunosuppressants such as Protopic (tacrolimus) and tricyclic antidepressants
