Endometriosis

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting women, in which the internal cells in the uterus grow in other parts of the body. Women with endometriosis may experience painful menstruation, abdomen and/or lower back pain, difficulties conceiving, and pain during intercourse.

Medication and surgery are both options for treating endometriosis, although there is currently no cure for the condition. Treatment of endometriosis is focused on managing the symptoms. Drugs prescribed to patients with endometriosis may include painkillers and hormone medication. These include progesterones, progestins, androgens and gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists.
