Facial Wrinkles
Facial wrinkles, or folds and creases in the skin, tend to be most noticeable around the eyes, mouth, and neck. They are a natural part of aging but may also be caused or increased by exposure to the sun, smoking, and other pollutants. Prevention strategies include regular moisturizing, avoiding smoking, eating a healthy diet, and protecting the skin from the sun, either with sunscreen or a hat.
A range of cosmetics to reduce wrinkles are available in the form of ointments, creams and skin gels. Surgery or injections to smooth the skin are other treatment options. Drug classes used to treat facial wrinkles include topical retinoids for use for acne, such as Refissa (tretinoin), which may be used to reduce wrinkles and renew skin cells.
