Gas
Passing gas is a normal bodily function, but excessive gas may be the result of poor diet, or an underlying medical condition such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or Crohn's disease.
Symptoms of gas include discomfort, pain, cramps or a knotted feeling in the abdomen and involuntary passing of gas. In some cases, the pain from gas may be constant or intense and may be mistaken for other conditions, such as appendicitis.
Treatment of gas usually involves changes to diet and avoiding certain foods the cause gas. Supplements, probiotics, and other products for functional bowel disorders may also help alleviate excessive gas.
