Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A is a viral infection that attacks the liver. It is contracted through close contact with someone who has the condition, or through contact with infected food or drink. Symptoms include fatigue, aches and pains, loss of appetite, fever and nausea. In some cases, few or no symptoms manifest, but it can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Treatment usually involves immunization with drugs such as Havrix or Twinrix to minimize the chance of chronic hepatitis A developing.
