Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is contracted through contact with infected blood, which may occur through needle-sharing, sexual contact, or from a pregnant mother to an unborn child.

The condition is largely symptomless and can be difficult to diagnose. Early signs may include symptoms similar to those of the flu, for example: fever, fatigue, poor appetite, nausea, muscle and joint pains.

Vaccinations are available and medication is often prescribed to treat patients who contract hepatitis C. Common drug classes used include anti-hepatitis drugs, interferon alphas and hemostatics.
