Nausea

Nausea is a non-specific symptom of many conditions and is characterized by an uneasy feeling in the stomach and an urge to vomit. Nausea may occur without vomiting or it may precede vomiting.  

Common causes of nausea include morning sickness, food poisoning, headaches, migraines, dizziness, and motion sickness. Certain medical treatments, such as chemotherapy, and medication, for example, some antibiotics and antidepressants, also cause nausea. 

Physicians may look to identify the underlying cause of nausea as it is may be a symptom of an underlying ailment. However, a number of medications, known as antiemetics are available to treat nausea. 

Drug classes used to treat nausea are phenothiazine antiemetics, antivertigo products, propulsives, cannabinoids, first generation antipsychotics, other antiemetics and antinauseants, serotonin/5HT3 antagonist antiemetics/antinauseants, and cannabinoid antiemetics.
