Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors/ACEIs

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors) are used to relax blood vessels and reduce the levels of salt and water in the body. They control production of angiotensin II, a substance that can increase blood pressure through the narrowing of blood vessels. ACE inhibitors are used to prevent or treat high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, migraines and other conditions. Commonly prescribed ACE inhibitors include Zestril (lisinopril) and Prinivil (lisinopril).
