Carbapenem Antibiotics
Carbapenems are a class of beta-lactum antibiotics, that have the ability to inhibit beta-lactamase enzymes – a type of enzyme that greatly reduces the activity of antibiotics such as penicillins and cephamycins. They posses the broadest potency against bacteria and are often reserved for severe infections or used as a last-line agent. Most common are doripenem, meropenem and ertapenem, and are only available with a prescription.

- Pneumonia
- gynecologic infections
- intraabdominal infections
- community-acquired pneumonia
- diabetic foot ulcer
- endomyometritis
