Neuraminidase Inhibitors
Neuraminidase inhibitors are antiviral agents used to treat influenza (the flu). They work by blocking the viral neuraminidase protein, stopping the release of viruses from the infected host cell and preventing new host cells from becoming infected. Commonly prescribed neuraminidase inhibitors include Relenza (zanamivir), Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Rapivab (peramivir).
