Non-Opioid Antitussives
Antitussives are medications used to treat and prevent coughing. Non-opioid varieties do not contain opiates, such as codeine. Non-opioid antitussives work by numbing the throat and suppressing coughing. Commonly prescribed non-opioid antitussives include Tessalon (benzonatate), Delsym (dextromethorphan), and Benzonatate (benzonatate).
