Protease Inhibitors
Protease inhibitors are antiretroviral medications used alongside other medicines to treat HIV and AIDS. They work by inhibiting the action of the HIV-1 protease enzyme, which is required for viral growth, infectivity, and replication of the HIV cells. Commonly prescribed protease inhibitors include Evotaz (atazanavir, cobicistat) and Norvir (ritonavir).
