Serotonin/5HT3 Antagonist Antiemetics/antinauseants
Serotonin/5HT3 antagonist antiemetics/antinauseants are used to the treat and control nausea and vomiting. They are often prescribed to patients undergoing chemotherapy or following surgery. They work by preventing serotonin from binding to its receptors in the small intestine, which reduces the chance of vomiting. A commonly prescribed serotonin/5HT3 antagonist antiemetic/antinauseant is Zofran (ondansetron).
