Itching

Itching is a symptom of many other conditions and ailments, such as allergic reactions, insect bites, eczema and other skin conditions.

Treatment to alleviate itching depends on the underlying cause, but there are many options available to relieve the symptoms and prevent further outbreaks. 

Drug classes commonly used to treat itching will depend on the location and cause of the itching, but may topical treatments such as plain topical corticosteroids, topical anti-hemorrhoidals with corticosteroids, emollients and protectants, and topical scalp antifungals. 

Other medication used to treat itching include first generation (sedating) antihistamines, combinations of corticosteroids with antibacterials, and other nonsteroidal products for inflammatory skin disorders.
