Signs and symptoms of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome include the onset of seizures at an early age, often on a daily basis. Those with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome often experience different kinds of seizures, but they are typically atonic, tonic, and atypical absence seizures. Children with the condition often experience developmental delays and cognitive dysfunction.
The majority of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome cases are symptomatic of an underlying condition, such as encephalopathy, hereditary metabolic diseases, meningitis, or birth injuries. However, in some cases, no cause can be found.

Drug classes sometimes used to the treat Lennox-Gastaut syndrome are anti-epileptics, including anxiolytics, benzodiazepines, anticonvulsants, miscellaneous, anticonvulsants, carbamates, and other anti-migraine drugs.
