Calcineurin Inhibitors
Calcineurin inhibitors are a form of immunosuppressant used to treat organ transplant rejection and inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. They work by inhibiting calcineurin, an enzyme that activates T-cells in the immune system, which help to suppress the immune system. Commonly prescribed calcineurin inhibitors include Sandimmune (cyclosporine), Restasis Multidose (cyclosporine) and Astagraf XI (tacrolimus).
