Nucleoside and Nucleotide Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors/NRTIs
Nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors/NRTIs are used to treat AIDS, HIV and other retroviruses. They work by inhibiting viral cells from multiplying by preventing DNA synthesis within the cells. Commonly prescribed nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors/NRTIs include Viread (tenofovir) and Emtriva (emtricitabine).
