Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection of the lungs, spread mainly through airborne droplets breathed into the air by a person infected with the disease. It can be either acute or chronic and symptoms of the condition include a cough, fatigue, weight loss, breathing issues, and chest pains. Tuberculosis is a preventable and curable condition but is still found in the United States.
Commonly prescribed drug classes used to treats tuberculosis include antibiotics for treatment of tuberculosis, rifamycin antibiotics, cytoprotectant agents, and oral B2-stimulants.
