Belladonna and Derivatives
Belladonna and derivatives are used to provide relief from spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, the bladder, and biliary tract. They are used to treat patients with conditions such as colitis, spastic bladder, infant colic, renal and biliary colic, irritable bowel syndrome, peptic ulcers, and diverticulitis. Belladonna and derivatives control bodily secretions such as stomach acid production. Belladonna and its derivatives may also be used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Commonly prescribed belladonna and derivatives include Levsin (hyoscyamine sulfate), Symax Duotab (hyoscyamine sulfate) and Oscimin (hyoscyamine sulfate).
