Fungal Infection
There are many conditions associated with fungal infection, but the majority affect either the skin or lungs. Spores from fungi are airborne and certain spores may cause infection when they land on the skin or are inhaled. Common fungal infections include athlete's foot, jock itch, candidiasis (yeast infections such as thrush) and ringworm.
Treatment of fungal infection depends on which part of the body is affected and which fungus is the cause of infection. For skin infections, topical treatments are often prescribed. Drug classes commonly used to treat fungal infection include azole antifungals, polyene antifungals, and other systemic antifungals.
