Azole Antifungals
Azole antifungals are a class of drugs that contain an azole ring and inhibit the growth of a wide range of fungi. The work by damaging the cell membrane resulting in the death of the fungal cells. Azole antifungal agents can be used to treat fungal infections of the body and skin, including athlete’s foot, fungal nail infections, ringworm and vaginal candidiasis. Azole antifungals are available either by injection, oral capsules, or a liquid solution.
