Macrolide Antibiotics
Macrolide antibiotics are used to treat an extensive variety of bacterial infections. They are prescribed for, among other conditions: skin, eye, ear, sinus, upper and lower respiratory tract infections. Macrolide antibiotics are also used to treat patients with pneumonia and acne and may be administered in a number of forms, including: tablet, capsule, suspension and topical. Commonly prescribed macrolide antibiotics include Zithromax (azithromycin), Biaxin (clarithromycin) and Ery (erythromycin).
