Topical Aminoglycosides, Plain or in Combination
Topical aminoglycosides, plain or in combination are antibiotics applied locally to treat infections and inflammation. They are often used in the treatment of eye infections. Aminoglycosides are often used in conjunction with other antibiotics or corticosteroids. They inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria cells, increasing the effectiveness of bactericidal treatment. Commonly prescribed topical aminoglycosides, plain or in combination include Garamycin (gentamicin), Tobrex (tobramycin), and Bethkis (tobramycin).
