Open Enrollment Period

The Open Enrollment period is the window in which individuals can sign up for health insurance on the federal or state exchanges. For 2022 health plans, the Open Enrollment period starts on November 1, 2021, and ends on December 15, 2021 for health insurance starting on January 1, 2022. The final deadline for enrollment using the federal Marketplace is January 15, 2022.

Some states with state-run exchanges have slightly different enrollment periods. If you live in one of these states, visit your state's website to confirm the dates (see the links below). If you get health insurance through your job, speak to your employer to find out when your company’s Open Enrollment period begins and ends.
