HealthCare.gov

HealthCare.gov is the federal health insurance exchange website. Set up under the terms of the Affordable Care Act, the Marketplace (or Health Insurance Marketplace) allows users to compare and choose between health plans available in their area and learn more about their health insurance options.

A small number of states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington) have their own state exchanges, so residents of these states do not use HealthCare.gov when picking a health plan.
